The mission of OORP is to make contact with individuals who have a Substance Use Disorder and as a result, arrive into the Emergency Room.  Ultimately, OORP wants to assist individuals with peer recovery support to assist those with a substance use disorder in linking to treatment.  Individuals who have a Substance Use Disorder are at risk for overdose and at significant risk for developing serious health concerns if they do not get connected to treatment for their addiction. The purpose of this program is to put an end to the “revolving door” of patients coming in and out of hospitals due to their Substance Use Disorder.  We believe the best way to address it is by connecting them to peer support who can then motivate and link them to treatment/recovery services at this critical stage.
