The mission of OORP is to make contact with individuals who have a substance use disorder and, as a result, arrive at the emergency room. Ultimately, OORP wants to assist individuals struggling with substance abuse with peer recovery support and linking them to treatment.
Individuals with a substance use disorder are at risk for overdose and are at significant risk for developing serious health issues if they do not get treatment for their addiction. The purpose of this program is to put an end to the revolving door of patients coming into and out of hospitals due to their substance use disorder. We believe the best way to address this issue is by connecting them to peer support, who can motivate and link them to treatment and recovery services at this critical stage.
